Kitchen failure and in need of your help

My newfound interest in mastering the culinary arts has been largely motivated by my daughter Diana. The results have so far been of great success, but today our winning streak came to a humbling and abrupt end. The challenge at hand was nothing more complicated than the ambition to create 40 or so cinnamon buns. Neither me nor Diana have a clue what went wrong along the way, but the dough was eventually more suitable as adhesive if one intended to redecorate with some new wallpaper. It ended up a useless glue like slimy mess!?

Although distraught and puzzled by our failure we have no intentions on giving up our mission. We will get back in the saddle again, we just need to figure out where we went wrong.

As I'm sure that there are quite a few experts on the subject out there, any tips on the subject will be much appreciated.

Warm milk, yeast and butter, check!

Flour, suger etc, check!

Hmmm... Something's not right here

What the...?
